Using punishment as a deterrent does not address the central problem in a individual.

It is not only cruel, but also unfair in many instances to deprive people of a learning opportunity. Say you made a mistake and didn’t mean end up where you are, life deals all sorts on hands. Shall I then trap you in the past and call you in the name of all your mistakes. That you made the mistake, nay, are the mistake! No. That does not solve any problems, it only causes them. It is simply unnecessary. Now, what about prisons you ask. Well the prison system should be meant to detain and hold individuals hard to deal with. Not punish them, but correct them. It’s called correctional facilities isn’t it? However this is only a perspective and I wanted to vent. Good day.
